Laptop/Computer shutdowns with out any warning

One of a very common problem with laptops is Over heating. Thankfully, these days, almost every mother board/ processors have thermal sensors, which immediately initiates system shutdown in case of over heating to avoid any hardware damage.

Problem: System starts fine and run properly for some time with out any problem, but after some time, it just shut downs with out giving any warning. The shutdown is also not proper because, the next time you start system, it says "The system was not shut down properly". In some cases, you might here some 2-3 clicks (or beeps) as well before the system shut downs. If u let cool it for some time and then starts it again, it will again run for few hours and then again the same problem.

Reason: The reason for this problem is OVERHEATING. every processor is designed to operate at a certain maximum temperature. If your system temperature exceeds that limit, system will shut down immediately to avoid any damage to your costly processor.

There are many reasons possible for over heating. Some of them are:

1. Your system fan is not working.
2. A lot of dust is collected near your heat sink, which is blocking heat transfer.
3. Your system is placed on some clothes which are blocking the hot air outlets.

Solutions:

1. If your fan is not working, u will have to buy a new one. A really good fan is easily available for $ 15. Just replace the fan and you are done.

2. If your fan is working good, the possible reason for the problem could be DUST. you need to clean the dust. For that you can use a COMPRESSED AIR CAN. If you are smart enough to disassemble your laptop, open it and remove the dust.

The problem generally comes even when the product is in warranty. So to avoid any chance of tempering the warranty, just visit any service center to fix the problem. If its not in warranty, you can follow the above mentioned steps.

Game Ranger connection problem in AOE

A very common problem with gameranger is joining a hosted game.

Problem: You are able to login in GameRanger and join any room, but as soon as the host starts the game you are stuck at "Loading multiplayer game" screen and then AOE just comes out.

Solution:
The problem is because of your ROUTER settings. Follow these steps to resolve this problem...We need to do port forwarding for game ranger.

1. open "Control Panel" and go to "Windows Firewall".
2. If your firewall is OFF, skip step 3 & 4, else click on "Change settings" and go to "Exceptions" tab.
3. Add "gameranger.exe" and your application name (eg Age2x_1.exe) in exception list.
4. Now click on "Add Port" and add UDP port "16000". Click OK and come out.
5. Try starting a game now. It should work now, but if it isn't working, try further steps.
6. Now we need to modify router settings. Open router administration page and Enable "UPNP" if it is not already enabled.
7. If it is still not working, disable DHCP and provide static ip address to your system.
8. In the port forwarding settings, Forward port "16000" for AOE and start playing now. ENJOY :)
